Curiosity, self-reflection, and journaling.

The most uncomfortable lunch of the project so far. Delphine called my biggest struggle an excuse, and she was right.

The conversation

Delphine Camberlin's story

Delphine is the kind of person who does things. When she was very young, maybe six or younger, she had a little disposable camera in her hands, the kind with twenty or thirty pictures and then you throw it away. Decades later, after traveling through Portugal, Australia, the Netherlands, Singapore, and Spain, she's still drawn to the technical side of photography... the camera settings, the light, the angle. Photography gives her energy.

Photography as the red thread

What strikes me is how photography has woven through every job she's taken, even when photography wasn't the job title. She moved from web content management into roles where she could layer in her camera skills... photo shoots for teams to introduce everyone, product photography for e-commerce platforms where pictures were missing. She eventually printed large exhibition photos in her village and created a website called The Travel Guy to showcase the places she'd lived and worked. It's not her day job. She's been clear about that. She had a chance to work for National Geographic years ago and turned it down because she didn't want to turn her passion into a job. She likes being the geek behind the computer, working on developing and improving websites, analyzing them, bringing them to the next level. She's in between... the bridge between the external teams and the manager.

Entrepreneur energy

About eighteen months ago, she decided she wanted to work for a green company doing something meaningful. She started reaching out on LinkedIn, focusing on climate change. That led to becoming co-founder of a climate tech startup, where she became head of branding and website, building the company's identity from scratch. When it didn't move in the direction she wanted, she made a clear choice in December... close a few things and explore something new. She didn't hesitate. That entrepreneur spark is in her family, in her blood. That same energy shows in her resilience. Rock climbing taught her this: when her energy is low on the wall, she rests, eats a nut, and continues. That mix of action and patience is woven through everything she does.

Dream life, not dream job

When I asked what her dream job was, she reframed it entirely. There's no perfect job. It's what you do with your life... the dream life. She writes her goals on post-its. She's an Aries with a mix of resilience and entrepreneur energy. She moved around, tried things, took chances. She loved Spain, the weather, the environment. But she's been missing her tribe... ambitious people who want to create something. The podcast has been changing that. She's met so many interesting people just in recent weeks, and it's making her want to stay even more. That group building something meaningful, not just going through the motions... the 50 Lunches project has become the way to fill that gap. She's collaborative on other projects too. Just this week they're recording an episode together about what to do in Malaga, and photography continues to be that recurring thread through everything she does.

Facing your own transition?

These conversations keep surfacing the same themes: the gap between what you're doing and what you want to be doing, the hesitation to make the move, the fear that clarity will never arrive. If that sounds familiar, coaching is where we go deeper.
